Will Ice In the Fall Work?

There's an old line about a salesman so good that he could sell ice in the wintertime.  Lately, it seems that the Democrats are trying to adopt that slogan with a slight change.  They want to sell ICE in November.  Simply put, it is getting clearer and clearer that the Democrats really are going to advocate for the abolition of ICE, the agency the enforces the immigration laws (among other things).  Democrats are going all out to adopt policies that favor open borders.  It ten million people from South America want to move here next week and get all manner of government assistance, that's just fine with the Democrats so long as those people ultimately are granted citizenship and they vote Democrat.

The problem that the Dems do not seem to have grasped is that the majority of Americans don't favor that policy.  Among the strongest Democrat group, African Americans, a large majority oppose the position.  And here's a shocker:  even among Hispanic American citizens, a majority oppose that policy.  It seems that the only groups that support the policy of open borders are members of the #Resistance in urban centers like New York, LA, DC and Boston as well as far left kids on college campuses.  In other words, only the rabid anti-Trump left wing base of the party likes this policy.

Normally, the supposed adults in the room, the party leaders would quickly move away from the open borders, abolish ICE group, but that isn't happening at the moment.  There's just too much energy in the camp of the #Resistance.  It's craziness, but it is the main source of energy among Democrats today.

My prediction is simple.  If the antics of the anti-Trump left continue through November along with the abolish ICE/open borders positions, there won't be a blue wave.  There won't even be a blue trickle.  Republicans will pick up at least 5 Senate seats and they could even hold their own in the House.  The Dems will have lost their chance for a big win that normally goes to the out party in a mid-term election.  Americans are just not that crazy.
