offshore drilling -- a correction

In my last post, i said the Obama was now opening up the same areas that Bush had opened to drilling with a minor exception. Unfortunately, that statement was the result of reading the AP articles on the subject. I should know better thanto trust the AP with facts pertaining to Bush and Obama. The truth is that Obama is not opening up the same basic areas. Obama is keeping the areas likely to have the most offshore oil and gas off the drilling list for the time being. Even when Obama comes out for drilling, he still manages to prevent it from happening in a meaningful way.
