Even before the death of bin Laden the constant refrain in the main stream media has been that president obama is unbeatable in 2012. Now that the leader of Al Qaeda has been killed by navy seals, the volume on that refrain has been turned way up. Today, Rasmussen is out with results from a very large poll of Americans who were asked if they would vote for Obama or an unspecified Republican in 2012. The poll of 3,500 likely voters found Obama ahead of the unspecified Republican by 45% to 43% with 13% undecided. In other words, Obama is about as far from unbeatable as you can get; the statements in the main stream media are nothing more than liberal hype.
Even though Obama is ahead, there results are ominous for him since he gets only 45% of the vote. The American people already know him well and even just after the bin Laden event only 45% of them are willing to vote for Obama.
Of course, we are a year and a half from the election, so these polls mean little. Nevertheless, the poll does settle one thing: Obama does not have a lock on re-election. In fact, as of now, he is looking likely to lose.
