At today's news conference (probably the part after I gave up listening to the nonsense from Obama), president Obama said that the American people were all sold on the idea that taxes should be raised to help pay for the dificit. According to Obama, poll after poll shows that Democrats, Independents and Republicans all support the higher taxes. Drudge also links to a new poll out today from Rasmussen that shows that only 34% of those polls support higher taxes as part of a debt ceiling deal. So Obama says there is 80% support for his deal as shown by the polls and the actual poll says that people line up two to one against the idea.
Is Obama delusional? I doubt it. It is just another of his convenient lies. Obama believes that if he says something, it becomes reality. Hopefully, in November of 2012 he will learn that reality is not something that he controls.
