There is an amazing piece out today detailing the extent to which the New York Times misled the public about the natural gas industry. You can reach the article by clicking on the title to this post. In short, the article details that the recent Times article charging that the shale oil and gas reserves in the USA were being falsely inflated was itself a phony. In other words, there is no credible evidence that the shale gas boom is anything other than what it claims to be. Indeed, if the details of the article can be proven, the Times may be in deep trouble for market manipulation in violation of the securities laws in both the USA and Canada.
Coupling this with the decision in New York to allow fracking, it has been quite a day for the natural gas industry.
