Former FBI Director and known liar Jim Comey is pushing his new book. As part of that campaign, Comey was interviewed by George Stephanopoulos of ABC. The big reveal of the interview is that President Trump supposedly asked Comey (while he still headed the FBI) to investigate the so called Trump dossier to prove that it is untrue. Comey says he was shocked and upset by the request.
To me, the big news here is that anyone thinks Comey's lies are worth mentioning. Remember, the Trump dossier was assembled and paid for by the DNC and the Clinton campaign. The man who played the main role in assembling the Trump dossier was someone that the FBI itself fired in early fall of 2016 for misdeeds in connection with that very same dossier. Nothing in the dossier was verified by the FBI, and that lack of verification was not due to lack of trying. There simply was no proof of any of the main claims made in the dossier. When he sat down to brief the President-elect, Comey knew all of these facts. Indeed, within hours of Comey briefing Trump on the subject, news of that supposedly confidential briefing as well as the contents of the dossier leaked to the media, and we know that Trump wasn't the leaker (which leaves Comey as the likely leaker.) So Trump was told by the head of the FBI of a dossier filled with salacious and phony claims against him and, in response, Trump supposedly said the claims were false and asked the FBI to investigate to prove that. What else would Comey have expected? He knowingly told the President-elect about the contents of the dossier, but didn't bother to tell him that it was put together by the Democrats by a guy fired for being untrustworthy. When faced with some rather terrible claims against him, Trump then asked Comey to investigate to show them untrue. Isn't that a normal reaction? So how was Comey shocked and upset? Comey got the reaction that any normal person would have expected, and Comey then used the very fact of the briefing to leak the story to the media.
Comey is not someone to be trusted. He lied about leaks. In fact, he illegally leaked classified information to the media. Now he wants to play the victim. He should be ignored.
