The Inspector General of the Department of Justice issued a report this afternoon regarding former Deputy Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe who was fired recently. It's important to remember that the Inspector General is non-partisan and independent; this was a good faith investigation of McCabe.
The findings of the IG report are not kind to Andrew McCabe. According to the IG, McCabe "lacked candor" (which is a nice way of saying McCabe lied) on at least five different occasions both under oath and not under oath. This all stems from the action in late October of 2016 when McCabe had a senor FBI agent and FBI lawyer Lisa Page talk on background to the Wall Street Journal. In that conversation, it was confirmed to the WSJ that there was an ongoing investigation of the Clinton Foundation (something previously unconfirmed to the media). They also told the WSJ about the status of parts of the investigations, and the whole point of the conversation with the media was to make McCabe look good in his efforts at the FBI. Since this story indicated a possible improper leak of confidential information from the FBI, an investigation was commenced. McCabe then denied to the FBI Director, the FBI agents investigating the leak, and later to the Inspector General that he knew who had spoken to the WSJ or how the leak had occurred. McCabe later lied to other investigators from the IG on more than one occasion.
This is important news. Just a few weeks ago, the mainstream media was having a conniption fit because the Attorney General had fired McCabe just before his pension had vested. Sessions had based his decision upon the conclusion of the IG and the FBI that McCabe had lied or "lacked candor". The media didn't care, however; it was President Trump exacting some sort of revenge even though Sessions and not Trump made the call. Now, however, we have confirmation that the IG concluded after a careful investigation that McCabe had indeed lied repeatedly, a firing offense under the rules that govern the FBI. Once again, all the storm that surround the McCabe firing turned out to be just so much more BS from the mainstream media and the Democrats while the forced departure of McCabe was required by the rules of the FBI.
In a way, it's interesting to see this report about McCabe's consistent lying on a day when the former FBI Director Jim Comey is out with his book which is also filled with lies. Comey too is a liar. Comey too, however, is violating the rules that govern FBI agents. It is completely improper for Comey to be out in the media giving his opinions about investigations that are still ongoing. As FBI Director, Comey learned all sorts of confidential information. Comey doesn't get the right to discuss that information in public just because he is no longer with the FBI. Comey is just as bad as McCabe.
