Tire Day Burns Itself Out

Today is Friday, so Hamas terrorists in Gaza held another of their so called peaceful demonstrations alongside the border fence separating Gaza from Israel.  This time, peaceful demonstrations consisted of burning about 10,000 tires to create a toxic smoke cloud, attempting to cut the border fence, attempting to plant bombs alongside the fence, and shooting across the border towards the Israeli troops stationed on the other side.  The Hamas led group expected to get a turnout of something like the tens of thousands who came to protest last week.  They got only a small fraction of that number.  Estimates put the crowd at between 1000 and 1500 split among five different sites.  The burning tires also did not do what Hamas expected.  The smoke cloud did not obscure the crowd and the saboteurs from Israelis.  Instead, it just created toxic chemicals that the protesters inhaled to their detriment.  The Israeli forces continued their program of repelling anyone who tried to interfere with or booby trap the border fence.  They also targeted the ringleaders of the Hamas forces who came close to the fence.  Also, anyone who was shooting across the border from Gaza or otherwise attacking into Israel was targeted.  So far seven Palestinians have died in the confrontation.

Hopefully, this will be the last large protest in this parade of idiocy.  I doubt that many more average Gazans want to come to the border fence in order to put themselves in harm's way.  If the Hamas forces want to attack the fence, they will have to do so without human shields.
