Last night there was a debate among the Democrat candidates for governor. Lee Whitnum of Greenwich is a perennial Democrat primary candidate and this year she's running for governor. She showed up at the debate and went to take a seat on the stage. The Democrat official running the event had the police forcibly remove her from the stage. Whitnum did not go quietly; she grabbed the table on the stage and was eventually tackled and literally dragged off the stage on her back. She was arrested and booked. Police released her mug shot. The Democrats announced that she should not be someone who represents their party.
Look, Whitnum is a detestable and disgusting individual. In the past, she has pushed hate as a big part of her message to fellow Democrats. Still, it doesn't seem right that the Democrat party officials get to decide who the voters hear at a debate among candidates. So long as she is a candidate on the ballot, she ought to be heard. After all, her message of hatred could resonate within the Democrat party since they seem to hate so many. Seriously, this is a mess.
