CNBC reported that a senior American official told them that the President and his military advisers were considering eight possible targets in Syria to be hit in retaliation for the chemical weapons strike. Simply put, that is disgraceful. Let's assume that the report is true. What kind of an idiot tells the media where the USA might strike in Syria? There's already reports that the Syrians have moved planes and troops to Russian bases or to bases in Iran where the USA is unlikely to strike. Why give Assad a heads-up so he can move his people out of harm's way? Alternatively, let's assume that the report is untrue. Is this an attempt to mislead Assad so that he will keep his forces at a base that will then be hit? Why would we bother to do that. Then there's the possibility that CNBC knows that the report is false because the network made up much of it. That would be Fake News, but it surely wouldn't be very surprising given the track record of NBC and its networks regarding phony stories.
It really doesn't matter what this report is. No matter what it is, it shouldn't be on the air.
