Just Asking......

Here's a question that you should consider.  In the last three days, which of the following "news" items have you heard about the most:

a)  Lance Armstrong admits doping;
b)  The hostage crisis in Algeria;
c)  The hoax regarding the dying girlfriend of a Notre Dame football hero;
d)  The "bold" plans of president Obama for gun control measures; or
e)  The impending need to raise the debt ceiling?

From my own unscientific review, the order seems to be that the hoax about the girlfriend got top billing in the press with the Lance Armstrong admission running a close second.  Among the three also-rans, the "bold" gun control measures runs ahead.

If you ever needed better proof that the press in America does not pay attention to what is important, I cannot imagine what that proof could be.  The stories about the rise of jihad in Africa and about the future of the American economy run last behind a hoax and an admission of what everyone already knew happened years ago in a sports event that no one actually cares about.  (When was the last time you watched some of the Tour de France?)
