Since Donald Trump took over as President, there has been a non-stop assault on him by the left, a coalition of media and Democrats who can't stand that they lost the 2016 election. The assault gave birth to the #Resistance which has used every means possible to oppose everything that Trump has done. Thus, we have seen some rather bizarre things happen over the last year and a third.
A good example is that the Senate Democrats have tried to defeat every nominee put forward by President Trump. Almost every single one has been the subject of a filibuster. There are about twenty members of the senate who have voted against more than 90% of Trump's nominees. The opposition is so silly that even when the President renominated six people for judgeships who were first nominated for the same positions by president Obama in 2016 but who were left unconfirmed as time ran out on the Senate session, scores of Democrats voted against them.
I could go on with the list, but I want to point to a new and totally crazy position taken by some Obama officials. Steven Simon and Jonathan Stevenson were both directors of the National Security Council under president Obama. They just wrote an op-ed in the New York Times in which the call on the European nations to slap sanctions on American companies, withdraw diplomatic personnel and even oust the American ambassadors from their capitals because President Trump withdrew the USA from the Iran nuclear agreement. Think about that for a moment. These are senior members of the Democrat national security apparatus who are trying to foment the disintegration of our NATO alliance. Imagine what would happen if Britain, France and Germany actually did what these two crazies suggest. It would be the end of NATO. It would be the end of the joint defense of Europe. It would be the end of joint operations against ISIS and other terrorists. It would be an enormous blow to the economies of Europe and the USA. In short, it would be an unthinkable disaster, but it would be something that they could then blame on Trump.
The idea that the Democrats would advocate in favor of a move that would so severely hurt the USA and world security just so that they can continue their opposition to everything that President Trump does, shows that they have actually lost their minds. It cannot be that the left rationally thinks that taking down the President is so important that it is willing to also inflict severe damage on the USA and the American people (as well as the prospects for world peace).
As we get closer to November, it is important for voters to realize just how deranged the core of the Democrat party has become. These are people who, if given power, are prepared to drive the nation over the cliff just so as to hurt President Trump. They must be defeated.
