Shake Up In North Korea's Military Forces?

Here's a tweet that just went out a few minutes ago:

Just now on @MSNBC, Korea expert @GordonGChang said South Korea media is reporting that there is a “shakeup in the North Korean army at the top. That’s an indication that Kim doesn’t actually control it.”

There doesn't seem to be much more in the way of information about the supposed shakeup of the NK army command structure.  It could be Kim getting rid of those who he suspects might take advantage of his departure from the country for the Singapore summit to seize power.  It could be that those who support Kim are being purged as the military takes over power from Kim.  It could be something else.  Or, it could be that the report is just plain inaccurate -- which would not be unusual for MSNBC.

 

No matter what is going on, though, this is big news if there really was such a shakeup.  It may be enough by itself to delay the Trump-Kim summit.  Let's hope that when this plays out, it turns out to be good news rather than bad.
