This Week's Non-Violent and Peaceful "Protest March" in Gaza

Since it is Friday, it is time for the weekly "peaceful protest march" held by people in Gaza under the direction of Hama.  I call it a peaceful protest march because I have read so many articles in the mainstream media that describe these events in such terms.  According to the AP, for example, the marches are a protest against poverty in Gaza.

Here's what the peaceful protesters did today.  (And I mean JUST today.)
1.  The protesters threw about 50 grenades at the Israeli troops on the other side of the border fence.  Although the grenades exploded, the defenses on the Israeli side kept the border guards from getting any serious injuries.

2.  The protesters threw Molotov cocktails at the Israeli troops across the border.  Here too, the barriers and protective measures prevented the troops from serious injury although the fires caused by the weapons did some damage.

3.  The protesters forced their way through the border crossing at one point along the Gaza border.  While in the border crossing, the protesters damaged the pipelines that bring natural gas and water to the Gaza Strip.  In other words, for the second time in two weeks, the protesters managed to force a shut off of the supply of energy and water to the people of Gaza.

4.  The protesters set fire to kites which were released into the air to fly across the border and to set fire to fields in Israel.

One might validly ask how these people could be described as non-violent.  They are not protesters; they are rioters who are attacking the Israeli border guard.

Remember, Gaza was under Israeli control from 1967 until about 15 years ago when Israel voluntarily withdrew its forces.  The hope was that by giving the Palestinians control of their own territory, there could be peace between Israelis and Arabs.  That never happened.  Instead, from the moment the Israelis withdrew, the Palestinians attacked them repeatedly.  These "protests" are just the latest attacks.

Its sad that there are so many people in the media who just report propaganda rather than trying to learn the actual facts.  It would do them good to put the truth out rather than the nonsense pushed by the Palestinians.
