By now, many of you will have heard the results of the most recent CBS/New York Times poll that was just released. Romney leads Obama by 46% to 43% among the registered voters who were polled. This is a change from the 46 to 46 tie that was found a month ago in the last poll. In the stories about the poll, there were lengthy discussions of the effect that Obama's new "support" for same sex marriage is having on the results. All sorts of other items are discussed as well. But what is it that no one mentions? Here is the answer: among men, Romney leads Obama by 45 to 42%. Among women, Romney leads Obama by 46 to 44%. That's right, the gender gap which was last month's favorite subject has disappeared. The women who are the "victims" of the GOP's supposed "War on Women" now support Romney over Obama. This is quite a switch over the previous results when Obama led among women by 49 to 43.
Look, this is just one poll. It's results may be wrong or of fleeting importance. But I do believe that after telling us for weeks and months how women favor Obama over Romney because of the GOP War on Women, the media ought to at least report that they got it wrong (possibly).
