When I looked at the news this morning, I saw an article entitled "Networks Cancel 17 Shows". The piece then listed the 17 shows that were going off the air. I had never seen even one entire episode of any of them. In fact, I had just seen about 5 minutes of one which I happened to flip to one night by accident. Of the 17, I had never even heard of 12 of them.
The world of television has certainly changed. A huge chunk of network products are completely unknown to me, and I am someone who actually watches TV. I do not sit there for hours each night, but I do watch TV often enough. This is truly a testament to the rise of all of the cable channels. It is not that important what is on the major networks, when there are countless alternatives (not to mention all of the on demand stuff).
