The Whine Tour of New York

I listened to an excerpt from the latest speech by Donald Trump in which he again complains about how unfair the results were in Colorado.  Delegates were "stolen" from Trump, or so he says.  I've come to realize that when Trump says delegates were "stolen", it only means that Trump lost.  The Donald has absolutely no grace.  He's the patron saint of poor losers, the fox with the sour grapes, the boy who cried wolf (and that's not Wolf Blitzer), etc.  It began last summer when Trump said John McCain was not a hero for what he endured during the Vietnam War.  When Trump was called on his comments, Trump's response was to deny saying what everyone saw on the videotape.  Trump had not made a mistake, the video was just wrong.  There was more of this, but then the actual voting began.  Remember Iowa where Cruz beat Trump in the first contest of the year?  The next day, Trump was claiming that Cruz "stole" the election.  He dropped the whine, but he trotted it out again whenever he had a bad night.  Now, Cruz's forces are winning in delegate selection, so Trump is back again whining about the results.  Trump's delegates were "stolen".  Trump's aide says that Cruz used "Gestapo tactics".  It's all BS, but it's still totally unbecoming of a potential president.  Even worse, it's an illustration of the inability of Trump to deal with a defeat.  Trump has turned his campaign across the Empire State into the "Whine Tour of New York" (and there's no vineyards involved.)

The ability to deal with defeat is an important quality for a president.  Think how Lincoln dealt with years of setbacks in the Civil War.  Think how Washington dealt with all the British success during the Revolution.  Remember Roosevelt's response to Pearl Harbor and the series of Japanese victories in 1941 and 1942.  Think of George Bush's response to the devastating attack on 9-11.  None of these presidents just stood around and whined.  They accepted the defeats and moved on from them.  They inspired others to fight on.  They moved America to victory.  What would Trump do?  Give a speech in which he complained that our enemies are unfair?  Call our enemies stupid?  In other words, do everything but that which is needed, leading the nation on to success.

Whine tours are fine without the "h".  A wine tour of the vineyards of France might interest some.  The whine tour of New York should be rejected by all.
