The media is now trying to push the idea that the Democrats are going to retake the House next year. There's no reason to say this; it is way too soon to make such a prediction. It could happen, but the GOP could also increase its majority. Remember, this is the same media that predicted the Democrats would win the special elections in Georgia, Kansas and Montana when the Republicans won all three. Sure, the polls have moved a bit lately, but that is the aftermath of the healthcare bill failure and the musical chairs in the White House. The latter will be nothing but a distant memory by the time of the election, and healthcare will have progressed one way or the other by then as well. Meanwhile, if the GOP passes tax reform and gets the economy growing faster, millions of voters will come out to support the GOP.
The point of all this is that the media knows it cannot predict next year's election. (Heck, the media couldn't predict 2016, so why should they be any better at 2018?) Still, they are trying to panic Republican office holders into turning against the President. If the media succeeds, then the 2018 prediction might come true. If the GOP stays calm in the face of this onslaught of Fake News and passes tax reform, the media will fail once again.
Sadly, there a too many Republicans in DC who seem afraid of their own shadows.
