In a truly amazing story, it was revealed today that starting immediately after the 2016 election, there was a "secret society" within the FBI that was actively working to bring down then President-elect Trump. The secret society is referenced in a great many text messages sent between high level FBI agents who were involved in the Hillary email investigation as well as the Trump-Russia investigation. It's hard to believe. The FBI is supposed to be non-partisan and to enforce even-handed justice. The idea that there are agents who start with a political agenda and then work to achieve political goals through criminal investigations is abhorrent.
There is not yet any identification of all of the agents involved, although we know that agent Peter Strzok who among other things helped squelch the Hillary email investigation, was in the lead on the Trump-Russia investigation, and even was part of the Mueller special prosecutor investigation (until he was fired for blatant bias) is involved. So too is his mistress Lisa Page. It is also possible that Andrew McCabe who is the number 2 guy at the FBI took part.
All of these people have to be fired, and fired quickly. Then there ought to be a special prosecutor appointed to investigate and prosecute any agents (or Justice Department personnel) who participated to see if they committed any crimes by doing this stuff. There's no way that the FBI ought to investigate itself.
One thing is certain: if anyone was wondering how there were so many leaks at the start of 2017 from the FBI, we surely now know the answer.
