I'm not sure who gets the award today for hypocrisy in action. There are two finalists. The first is NY mayor Bill DeBlasio who arranged for the Empire State Building to be lit up in green lights to show a commitment to the environment and fighting climate change. Think about that. DeBlasio is fighting climate change by using millions of watts of lighting to make a statement. Just think of the carbon footprint of that exercise. It's mind-blowing. The second finalist is Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau. About a year ago, when President Trump first announced his restrictions on entry to the USA from six countries that have major terrorism problems, Trudeau denounced the action and told the world that Canada was open to all refugees and immigrants no matter where they came from or what their religion was. Earlier this week, President Trump ended the temporary asylum granted to 200,000 people from El Salvador after the 2001 earthquake in that country. Trump made clear that El Salvador had recovered from the earthquake and there was no need to further extend the temporary asylum. Prime Minister Trudeau's office put out a statement discouraging the 200,000 Salvadorans from trying to enter Canada. Apparently, Trudeau has changed his view of waves of "refugees" entering Canada, but he just has forgotten to tell the world about that change.
If I had to vote, I would pick Trudeau as the winner (or actually the loser). You may disagree, but you have to agree that each of these two is a major hypocrite.
