The Russian bases in Syria have come under attack twice in the last few weeks. In the first attack, mortars fired in a sustained manner at the air base damaged a number of Russian planes. The second attack was carried out by armed drones. There are no reports of casualties, but we really don't know if there were any. The biggest problem that the Russians face in responding to the attacks is that they don't know who is responsible for them.
Think about that. Russian armed forces are under attack by unknown assailants. The Russians really can't hit back because they don't know who is attacking them.
This is just another of those everyday occurrences in the Middle East. Mystery attackers who inflict damage but remain unidentified is just the latest in a long string of bizarre events in Syria.
