Something New In The Annals Of Good Faith

Senator Schumer let it be known today that he has taken his offer of money for construction of the border wall "off the table" in the DACA negotiations.  For the last six days, Schumer and his allies have been announcing that they offered money for the wall construction as part of an overall DACA deal.  Then came the shutdown and the miserable failure by Schumer to get what he wanted.  That was followed by total surrender by Schumer and the Democrats that reopened the government based upon a promise that there would be a vote soon on a DACA bill.  Normally, since the whole point of the Democrats' ill advised shutdown of the government was to get benefits for the DACA group of illegal aliens, one would think that the Dems would be trying to reach some sort of agreement with the Republicans so that a DACA measure could pass when put on the floor.  That would just be the exercise of normal good faith negotiations.  But there seems to be no good faith on the Democrat side.

Think about this.  Schumer is taking back something that might have led to agreement on DACA.  That pretty much guarantees that by the time the DACA bill is put on the Senate floor, it will not pass.  Will the Dems decide in three weeks to shut down the government again for the benefit of the illegal aliens?  That would be another mistake.  Is Schumer that poor a negotiator?  I don't think so.  Was his offer to fund the wall ever real?  I doubt that too.  This is just bad faith by Schumer.  He demands a deal on DACA and then takes steps to undermine the possibility that a deal will be achieved.  How two-faced can he be?
