Anyone paying attention to Washington knows by now that Democrat representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota is an anti-Semite. Since taking office just about two months ago, she has made anti-Semitic statements that play to all the old stereotypes of Jews that were used by the Nazis and other anti-Semites around the world. Each time, the resulting uproar has caused Omar to issue vague "apologies", but then she goes right back to her usual hatred of Jews. The most recent anti-Semitic outburst from Omar came last week. It led to yet another uproar of condemnation, but also to voices of support for Omar from far left Democrats like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The House Democrats scheduled a vote for today on a resolution condemning anti-Semitism that didn't even mention Omar by name. Apparently, Pelosi thought it was just too much to mention the bigoted congresswoman. But now that vote has been postponed. The resolution is being modified to include a condemnation of bigotry against Muslims as well. After all, Omar keeps calling herself a victim of Islamophobia when people call her out for her anti-Semitism. The Dems in the House didn't have the courage to condemn Omar without even mentioning her name; instead they are going to accept her bogus charge of her own victim status. We all know what Omar said. There's no mystery to her anti-Semitism. There aren't any anti-Muslim statements by people in Congress directed at Omar or any other Muslims, though. For the Dems, though, it doesn't matter. They're going to condemn the imaginary oppressors of poor Ilhan Omar.
If the House Democrats cannot even agree on a clear condemnation of a major anti-Semite in their own ranks, one has to wonder why any Jew would ever vote for a Democrat again. Indeed, we now have oodles of Democrat candidates for president in 2020. None of them have condemned Omar and her bigotry. For a party that has for years tried to portray itself as the party that fights racism and all forms of bigotry, the Democrats are clearly failing on that score.
