How dishonest and partisan is the AP?

I saw a headline and article from the AP this afternoon that sums up much of what is wrong with the media. The headline reads: "New Speaker Boehner has fewer millions than predecessor".

The substance of the story includes details that point out that former speaker Democrat Nancy Pelosi is much richer than the Republican speaker Boehner. In fact, Pelosi is one of the richest people in Congress (worth over $30 million) while Boehner has a net worth of between 1 and 5 million dollars. the AP, however, just could not bring itself to point out directly and clearly that the Democrat was so much wealthier than the Republican. It just does not fit the press narrative that Republicans are all rich people who only care about other rich people. Clearly, a net worth of between 1 and 5 million does not make Boehner poor; most Americans would be thrilled to have that size net worth. It does not make him one of the rich either. After hiding the truth with that headline, the AP then goes on to explain that many of the new committee chairmen in the House have investments in companies whose value could be affected by actions taken by Congress. Strangely, the AP only looks at the Republicans who are chairmen of committees in the House. They do not point out that the Democrats who chair various Senate committees have similar investments. Nor do they point out that the Democrats who used to be chairmen until they were voted out in 2010 also had similar investments. Indeed, nothing is said about the fact that anyone who has a retirement account that is invested in equity securities will almost necessarily have investments in companies that do business with the federal government. AP does point out that none of the chairman are doing anything improper or illegal, but they try hard to make the contrary seem to be the case. In actual fact, this is propaganda, not news.

UPDATE: From another source, I learned that Pelosi reported a net worth of about 35 million dollars while Boehner's was 2.1 million. That is the actual news. why can't the AP bring itself to tell us the truth?
