The GOP Debate

Tonight, CNN is televising a debate among some of the GOP presidential candidates from New Hampshire. Former governor Johnson of New Mexico was omitted by CNN but total losers like Ron Paul and Rick Santorum were included. There seems to be no logic to the mix. Newt Gingrich will make news by showing up after his staff resigned. Another big whoop. There have been and will continue to be stories about how Romney has the most to lose since he is the front runner. More BS. Is the media incapable of covering the election without constantly telling us who is ahead. If I declare now that I am running for president in 2020, will that make me the front runner for that election? The truth is that we do not even know who is in the race yet. Will Sarah Palin run or not? No one really knows other than the Palins. We also do not know who will excite the voters when the finally focus on the race. romney really did not do that well last time against John McCain. So why should he be the front runner this time? Because people have heard of him before....I think not.

It would be nice if the debate were like the last on on FNC focused on issues. Let's leave the questions about the Gingrich staff and fund raising numbers for other places. Let's leave the gotcha questions behind as well. The USA is facing serious problems. Let's hope that CNN and the candidates can address those problems in a serious manner. I do not expect it from CNN, but I can always hope.
