Amazing poll results

A Siena poll in New York with regard to the special election to fill the congressional seat vacated by Anthony Weiner has some big surprises in it. First, the obvious surprise is that the Democrat is only leading in the poll by 48 to 42%. For a district in Brooklyn and Queens, this is almost a landslide vote for a Republican. Even so, this was not the big surprise to me. What caught my attention was a question asking voters if they favored repeal of Obamacare. By a margin of 47 to 44 the answer is that they want the law repealed. Even among Democrats, 36% favor repeal. Just to put this all in context, you should know that the poll questioned a group that was 61% Democrats and 17% Republicans. This was not a group stacked against the Democrats.

I find it amazing that after a year and a half, a majority of folks in Brooklyn and Queens want Obamacare to be repealed. It shows that the law is not only unpopular, but that it is not gaining support the way the Democrats all said that it would. It is a mill stone around the neck of Obama in his re-election bid. Of course, the economy is a much bigger mill stone.
