We have nothing to fear but Barack himself

I just listened to the president comment on the S&P downgrade of American debt. Earlier today, I jokingly predicted a few of the things that he would say. The reality of his remarks was not as good as what I had predicted. Obama said nothing that would calm the markets. Obama said nothing that could faily be described as anything new. Obama said nothing that would bring America together. Obama said nothing that explained his plan to regain a triple A rating. He is going to suggest some plans in the coming months. Three years into his prersidency, Obama is going to come up with plans to deal with a debt problem which has been there from day one. It is a debt problem that has been going at full boil for the last five months at least. It is an economic problem that has been clear in the government's own numbers since at least last March. But this "leader", this "genius" is going to come up with plans. WHERE THE HELL HAS HE BEEN???????????

Let's not forget that Obama has gone back to his rant about raising taxes and shared sacrifice. How many times must we hear the same thing? There is never any actual proposal, since the truth is that the taxes on which Obama focuses are not enough to make much of a change in the debt picture. Instead, we get campaign rhetoric aimed at those who do not listen closely. The rich are evil! Yeah, that's the ticket for Obama. But there is not enough money there to make a difference, and if we follow his "suggestion" job creation will get worse.

Back in the Depression, Franklin Delano Roosevelt famously tried to calm a worried country by proclaiming to America that "We have nothing to fear but fear itself!" Roosevelt was a great leader who realized that his job was not to assign blame but to provide a path to relief and growth. Now, we have Obama. Truly, we have nothing to fear but Barack himself.
