Another AP Hit Piece

Steve Peoples of the AP wrote an article today that is a hit piece on Rick Perry and global warming. The article distorts the facts and is also based upon faulty thinking.

First the facts: The "science" of global warming is based upon historical temperature data accumulated by East Anglia University in Britain. Last year, e-mail from the folks who did that research were made public which revealed that the data was manipulated to conform to the conclusions of the scientists. In other words, the e-mail indicates that the temperatures were "adjusted" to show the warming trend that the scientists expected. Reality was ignored in favor of adjusted or false readings that support the expected conclusion. Since the adjustments were revealed, there has not been a systematic and public review of the actual temperature data.

The computer models that predict global warming as a result of the greenhouse gases produced by man depend on much of the warmth reaching Earth from the sun being retained rather than radiating out into space. In the last month, new data from NASA satellites was released. This NASA data showed that over the last eleven years, the level of heat radiation into space was about five times greater than the global warming computer models predict. In other words, the computer models which are the source of global warming predictions are clearly incorrect when it comes to the central cause of supposed additional heat on Earth.

Since the underlying data is at least questionable and the theory that predicts global warming has been shown to be wrong, it would be foolish for anyone to continue with the charade that global warming has been "proven" or that it is "settled science".

Today in New Hampshire, Rick Perry rightly said just that. Here's how Steve Peoples writes about Perry in the AP article: "[Perry] said some want billions or trillions of taxpayer dollars spent to address the issue, but he added: 'I don't think from my perspective that I want to be engaged in spending that much money on still a scientific theory that has not been proven and from my perspective is more and more being put into question.'"

After that, Peoples and the AP go into full hysteria. "Perry's opinion runs counter to the view held by an overwhelming majority of scientists that pollution released from the burning of fossil fuels is heating up the planet." Oh really?

We are also told repeatedly that Perry does not "believe" in global warming. Of course, Perry just said that the science here is in question, but that is distorted into a failure of Perry to keep the faith with global warming, a lack of belief.

Strangely, AP reports consistently that Perry believes in Christianity as if that were something bad. But his failure to "believe" in global warming is apostasy.

Maybe AP should educate its reporters about the altest actual science that pertains to the global warming theory. Indeed, the truth is that a candidate who says that he "believes" in global warming is one who has kept his eyes and ears closed.
