Newsweek and Obama's Critics

Newsweek Magazine bills itself as the journal of liberal opinion. It used to cover the news with a liberal slant, but it was remarkably unprofitable. In order to stop the ongoing losses, it was unloaded by the Washington Post company for one dollar. At that point, Newsweek "remodeled" itself into being a liberal opinion magazine. The latest cover of the magazine pretty well sums up how that effort is going. Newsweek has a picture of president Obama on that cover with the headline: "Why are Obama's Critics so Dumb?"

So there you have it. The journal of progressive opinion has as its response to the avalanche of criticism of Obama just an insult; the critics are dumb! There is no attempt to explain why the Stimulus that cost 800 billion dollars was a good idea; the critics are just dumb. There is no attempt to explain why Obama has failed to get the economy to rebound from the recession; indeed, the anemic recovery from the recession is the worst in 75 years. No, instead of discussing the facts, Newsweek tells us that the critics are dumb. Newsweek does not address the incredible amount of spending by the federal government that has brought us nothing but higher debt; anyone who discusses that is dumb. Newsweek is also silent about the problems with Obamacare, Dodd-Frank, the Iranian nuclear program, and the myriad of other failures by Obama; critics of those items are also just dumb. Indeed, since all the critics are dumb according to Newsweek, that must include those who want Guantanamo closed, those who want all troops out of Afghanistan now, those who wanted don't ask don't tell removed as soon as Obama took office and many other liberal critics.

The truth is that Newsweek, the journal of liberal opinion, reveals just how bankrupt that very liberal opinion is. There is no need to discuss substance since there is nothing for the liberals to say. They just call people names. Newsweek has made clear that liberal opinion operates on about the same level as third graders out on the playground at recess. Rumor is that next week Newsweek's cover will read "Republicans are poopy-heads!"
