Will The Democrats ever stop being racists?

Perhaps the most amazing thing in American politics is the persistent use by Democrats of phony charges of racism. According to the Washington Examiner, last night on Al Sharpton's MSNBC talk fest, Melissa Harris-Perry, a regular MSNBC contributor soon to have her own show said that favorable references to the tenth amendment to the constitution and comparisons of the current election to that of 1860 by Republican candidates were attempts to lay claim to the "segregationist" past. I did not see the statement because I refuse to watch any part of Al Sharpton's show. He is perhaps the biggest race-baiter of the last thirty years who made phony charges of rape against white law enforcement officials in New York's Dutchess Country in support of Tawana Brawley, who helped incite the riots in Brooklyn's Crown Heights following a traffic accident where a black child was killed, and who also incited the crowds to protest in front of a white owned store on the edge of Harlem which resulted in death when the store was firebombed by an angry protester. So on the show of this great "uniter", another brain dead liberal is out there claiming that supporting the language in the Constitution that assigns certain rights to the states is actually a call for segregation. What's next? Are we to learn that statements in support of free speech and the first amendment are actually calls for euthanasia of people with disabilities? Are calls by Republicans for economic growth actually code words for deporting all gays? These idiots actually go on television and say things like this, and NBC puts them on the air.

On the same show, the head of the South Carolina Democrat party said that the law requiring voter ID in the state was an attempt by the Republicans to bring back Jim Crow laws. Maybe this genius should watch the video on the web of people who went into polling places Tuesday in New Hampshire and gave the names of dead folks taken from the obituaries; each one was given a ballot to vote even though none had identification. Or maybe the head Democrat in SC should come visit us here in Connecticut where identification has been required for years. I guess that the Democrats who passed that requirement were closet racists trying to reduce the black vote and none of us here realized it. Indeed, even the poor blacks who were undoubtedly disenfranchised have yet to realize that.

The truth is that outrageous and phony charges of racism like these are way beyond offensive. It was once said that patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel. Not anymore. In today's America, the last refuge of a scoundrel is charging rascism. All of the phony charges make dealing with the bit of racism that actually exists all that much harder. After all, if everything gets called racist by empty - headed Democrats, no one will pay attention to any of these charges anymore. Indeed, even African Americans understand that most of the Democrat charges are pure nonsense.
