Newt says he went too far

The story is out this afternoon that Newt Gingrich now says he may have gone too far in attacking Romney on his connection Bain Capital. Gingrich regrets that he may have given the wrong impression with regard to how the free market system works. Is he kidding? Newt is running for president of the USA. We cannot have a president who takes unwise positions based on personal anger only to later take it all back. We are electing a president, not head of the Emily Litella fan club. (Okay, for those of you too young to remember, Emily Litella was the character on Saturday Night Live who would get incensed about something ridiculous -- like complaints about violins (rather than violence) on TV -- only to calm down and take it all back once she realized she was wrong. It gave Gilda Ratner who played Emily the chance to utter her tag line "Nevermind" once she realized the truth.)

Sadly, Gingrich has not changed from his persona in the 1990's despite all his claims to the contrary. He just does not have the personality that one must have to be an effective president.
