The Gaffe that keeps on Gaffing

Joe Biden used to be known as the dumbest man in the United States Senate. Now he is like a walking mistake. In the last twenty-four hours, Biden has made a joke about the sign language interpreter who was translating his speech to the deaf. Not too sensitive; where are those liberal sensitivities to the hearing impaired? Then Biden spoke about Mitt romney and the GOP to a predominantly black audience in Virginia and said "They’re going to put y’all back in chains." That is not a joke or a paraphrase. I watched the vidoe. Biden actually said "They’re going to put y’all back in chains."

Biden will probably skate away from this statement. After all, the press knows he is a liberal, so when he insinuates that the GOP will bring back slavery for blacks, he really doesn't mean it. After all, the press is too busy telling us that Paul Ryan, the GOP candidate for vice president, is a right wing ideologue because he said that the rights of the individual come from God and not from the government. For the press, I guess that the folks who wrote this are all right wing ideologues: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Of course, this is a direct quote from the Declaration of Independence.

In a sane world, Joe Biden would be booed from the stage for saying something as repugnant as his statement about a return to slavery. Sadly, the media in this country just do not live in such a world.
