The New Media Move to Protect Obama

President Obama has been running perhaps the most vicious and divisive campaign of modern times. He does not speak of his plans for the future; he argues instead that Mitt Romney is somehow responsible for the cancer death of the wife of a former employee at a company in which Bain Capital invested. Obama does not detail programs that might increase jobs in the USA; he tells us instead that Mitt Romney has off shore accounts and probably paid no taxes for years. Obama does not explain how raising taxes on the wealthy will promote a growing economy; instead we hear how those who are successful are not responsible for what they have accomplished. In Obama's world, success was achieved at the expense of others and now the successful must be punished with higher taxes. In just the recent past, the Obama campaign has told blacks that Romney wants to put them in chains, that Romney is a felon, that Romney wants to return to dirty air and dirty water, that Romney wants to take Medicare from seniors, and more. Not a single one of the Obama charges are true, but the truth seems to count for nothing among the Obamacrats.

All of this negativity and dishonesty from Obama is taking a toll on Obama's reputation with the American people. Mr. Hope and Change has morphed into Mr. Nasty with more and more folks. Indeed, Obama has been sacrificing what was his greatest asset in the election, his likability.

Obama has sunk to such depths, that Romney has begun to call him on it. During his just-ended bus tour of Ohio, Romney said that campaign was making “wild and reckless accusations that disgrace the office of the presidency.” Romney also declared, “His campaign strategy is to smash America apart and then cobble together 51 percent of the pieces. If an American president wins that way, we all lose.”

As if on cue, the media is now out there with stories about how both side have sunk to new lows in campaigning. A good example is that old liberal reporter Walter Shapiro who shills for Obama in the pages of The New Republic. He claims that Romney's statements mentioned above are harsh negative campaigning. Really? Obama and his people have lied for weeks and weeks about Romney. They have accused him of criminal behavior and even murder. They lie about Romney's proposals for the economy. They lie about every aspect of the campaign. All during that Shapiro was silent. But let Romney call Obama on his statements which are actually wild and reckless (a nice way of saying that they are big lies), Shapiro and his co-conspirators in the main stream media have a melt down. In their world, it is fine for Obama to lie and throw mud like never before; after all, Obama is a liberal. On the other hand, when Romney points out that Obama is engaging is this despicable conduct, Romney is now engaging in negative campaigning since, as we know, Romney is a conservative.

Hopefully, there are enough folks out there who have actually seen the Obamacrats sneaking around in the sewers so that this nonsense from lefties like Shapiro has no effect. Actually, Shapiro obviously will have no effect; probably he is only read by folks already totally committed to the Obama cause. The problem is that Shapiro is just an example of the sort of coverage that gets spread across NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS and the other main stream media outlets.

The more folks know about this strategy by the media, the better it is for Romney. Revealing the truth is a great way to show the bankruptcy of the Obama position.
