In what seems more like a caricature of liberal thought than an actual story, Matthew Rothschild of The Progressive has written a piece entitled "Romney Goes Racist on Welfare". The point of the piece is that when Romney complains about president Obama doing away with the work requirement of the welfare reform law of the 1990's, it is actually a racist act. Why? The answer is simple: the work requirement appeals to white voters, so Romney's attack must be racist.
For most of the last four years, everything that any Republican has done which is critical of Obama has been labelled racist by the left. One would think we lived in Mississippi in the 1950's rather than in the country that elected a black man as president. But to liberals there can never be enough charges of racism. Guilt is a wonderful motivator in their eyes. Opponents of liberal idiocy must be racists; certainly these opponents could not be motivated by anything else. Welfare should be expanded and limitless! Anything less is racism.
Hopefully, the bulk of the American people are on to this endless scam. Liberals are making charges of racism into something mundane and unimportant. They are shooting themselves in the foot. If they keep it up, they will just be aiming higher.
