Wow, Do They Ever Give Up?

Drudge is headlining a report that president Obama told folks in one of his latest fundraisers that Mitt Romney is planning to choose General Petreus as his running mate. One can see the allure of Petreus. Imagine, the GOP ticket would consist of Romney who has been extremely successful in business and Petreus who has been extremely successful in the military. They would be two men who have accomplished great things in the past. Against them would be Obama who has failed to accomplish anything during his presidency and Biden who has been a net negative. Even so, I think Obama was just blowing smoke with this one.

Romney will not pick a "foreign policy" vice president. This election is about the economy. It is about jobs. It is about getting America moving again. It is about ending the favoritism for certain "friends" of the president and the restoration of decency and honor to Washington. Okay, it is about trying to restore some measure of decency and honor to Washington (I got carried away.) The election is not about Afghanistan, terrorism, or national security. Oh, there will be some who will consider this in voting, but the bar for that issue is very low. I doubt there will be any folks who would vote for Obama who would change their mind and vote for Romney if Petreus gets added to the ticket.

More likely, this is just another of those handy rumors that the Obamacrats keep spreading to try to distract the public from the economy. Some day soon, however, Obama is actually going to have to tell America what, if anything, he has planned for a second term. That is the day that his campaign stumbles and falls.

UPDATE: The White House is now denying that president Obama ever said what Druedge is reporting. Based upon the past honesty of these alternatives and the often over the top claims pushed on the Drudge Report, I have to believe Drudge. Sometimes his reports are a bit wild, but I have never seen Drudge consistently lie the way Obama has.
