They Still Can Amaze Me

Recently, CNN got into hot water when it played the song "Stupid Girls" as a lead into a story about Sarah Palin. Then, this morning, CNN played "Only the Good Die Young" before a story about the shooting in the Sikh Temple in Wisconsin. This afternoon, CNN ran a story about South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley being chose as a speaker at the Republican National Convention and the network showed a map of Punjab province in India during that news. For those who do not know, Haley's parents immigrated from that very same Punjab province in India. If you do not believe me, here is the link to a screen capture from CNN.

What is going on at CNN? Have they decided at Time Warner (CNN's parent company) that they are going to go off the deep end with CNN? Is it really necessary to show a map of India when refering to Haley? Would CNN show a map like this for any other politician? Have you ever seen a map of Kenya when Obama was mentioned? How about a map of Ireland when a Kennedy was mentioned? Does CNN show a plastic surgeons office when Nancy Pelosi is mentioned on screen?

CNN claims this was an inadvertant mistake. Please! Showing the wrong video from the one announced is a mistake. Going to commercial when a report is in progress is a mistake. Mispronouncing a name or a word on live TV is a mistake. This is no mistake. Someone at CNN had to consciously find a map of Punjab -- these things are not usually lying around most TV studios. Then, someone had to decide to put that same map onto the screen; again, this is not something likely to happen by accident. And then, in the biggest "coincidence" ever, the map has supposedly appeared completely unrelated to governor Haley.

Shame on you CNN. Okay, it is true that given your ratings no one is likely to have seen this anyway, but SHAME ON YOU!!
