Another Day, Another $25 Million

It's hard to believe, but the Clintons just disclosed that there was another twenty-five million dollars paid for speeches by them in the last few years.  This time, the money was paid to the Clinton Foundation rather than directly to the Clintons themselves.  That means that the cash went mostly to pay for staff and travel costs for Bill and Hillary with less than ten percent going to actual charitable payments.  The latest story is that this twenty five million dollars was overlooked by the Foundation because it considered the money as "revenue" rather than "donations".  Some of the "revenue" came from foreign governments and individuals and appears to violate the agreement Hillary made with the White House when she took office as Secretary of State.  The story was broken by the Washington Post.

For what it is worth, the idea that revenue and donations are different things at a charity is laughable.  It would be like telling the IRS that you didn't list your wages as income because wages and income are different things.  It won't fly with the IRS and it shouldn't work for the Clintons.

The sad thing is that we have really reached the point where the FBI ought to be investigating the Clintons for criminal conduct.  The Department of Justice should be considering whether or not charges are appropriate.  But nothing will happen.  President Obama will never investigate Hillary.  That would likely doom the chances of the Democrats retaining control of the White House.  So we have the problem of a president whose main focus is politics rather than his duty failing to investigate a presidential candidate and her spouse, a former president, for what certainly appears to be selling influence. The losers in all this are the American people.

At the very least, they could hang a sign over the gates at a federal prison that says "ready for Hillary".
