More Smoking Guns -- Hillary Style

There's a news story out today which is remarkable for two reasons.  First, the story details how the State Department, under Hillary Clinton, approved $165 billion in American weapons sales to countries that gave large "donations" to the Clinton Foundation.  That amount was more than twice American weapons sales during the preceding four years.  The sales went to countries that were accused by the State Department itself of human rights violations, failure to combat terrorism and even being sources for support of terrorist groups.  It certainly seems as if Hillary sold her approval for arms deals with her granting the okay just so long as the "contribution" to the Clinton Foundation and the payments for speeches were high enough.  Second, the story is written by David Sirota.  Sirota is one of those liberals who would normally be expected to work with David Brock to put out the Clinton talking points no matter what the actual truth.  Instead, Sirota has a detailed examination of approvals of arms sales under Hillary's State Department, and the analysis is a crushing indictment of Hillary Clinton.

Ever since the book Clinton Cash was released, the Clintons' response has been that there is no smoking gun, no documents that show that Hillary trades favors from the State Department for "contributions" to the Clinton Foundation or for exorbitant speaking fees for Bill.  Of course, even for a criminal conviction, there is no need for such smoking gun documents.  It is enough for the jury to believe that there was a relationship between the payment and the "favor".  We already had many indicators that something major was wrong.  My favorite was that Bill and Hillary were involved in one of two gold mining concessions in Haiti being directed to a company associated with Hillary's brother-- even though the company had no experience with gold mining.  There are many others, but the arms sales approvals are something new.  It is hard to argue how State Department approvals for so many countries with problems could be issued just coincidentally at the time those same countries were giving big bucks to the Clintons.

Remember, this is not some Republican conspiracy.  It comes from a loyal Democrat.  It is also not a small coincidence.  $165 billion in arms is enough to carry out a series of major wars.  It's about time that the FBI investigated Hillary's conduct here.
