Why Did Hillary Lie Abut This?

According to Hillary Clinton, the only email address she used when she was Secretary of State was Hdr@Clintonemail.com.  Both Mrs. Clinton and her attorney gave statements that confirmed this claim.  The attorney made the claims regarding Hillary's email account in response to investigators from Congress regarding Benghazi.  The attorney was asked about a different email address, namely Hrod17@Clintonemail.com.  David Kendall, the attorney, told the Congressional investigators that that email address did not exist while Hillary was Secretary of State.

Today, the New York Times published copies of emails that Mrs. Clinton sent from the supposedly non-existent email account in 2011 and 2012.  In other words, both Hillary and her attorney lied about the existence of this email account.  To put this into context, it is   important to understand that telling lies to a federal investigator can be the crime of obstruction of justice.  I have not researched whether or not telling lies to a Congressional investigator meets the elements of a federal obstruction charge, but it is certainly not something that any attorney would want to do.

So here's the big question.  Why would Hillary and her lawyer cover up the existence of this second email address?  What is so important about this email address that it is worth risking potential criminal prosecution for obstruction of justice?

It would be nice if we could ask Hillary to explain why she kept silent about this second email account.  Of course, that would require Hillary to actually answer questions from reporters, something that she has not done for about a month.

We have just gone through a little more than six years with a liar in the Oval Office.  It would be crazy to elect another.  Hillary better come forward to explain these lies quickly.  Otherwise, her whole campaign may come crashing down.  There has to be some major Democrat with the courage to call on Hillary to tell the truth.  Indeed, it just might be the basis for a presidential campaign.
