There's No One In Charge

According to recent reports, the Assad forces in Syria are once again making deadly chemical weapons for use against their opponents in the civil war.  International inspectors found proof that Assad was violating his agreement to stop use of chemical weapons about six months ago; the weapon they found was sarin, an extremely deadly nerve gas.  The inspectors informed the US government of the violation last December.  In response, America has done nothing.  According to the articles, president Obama has not yet "decided" how to respond.

It is hard to imagine that Obama has ignored this mess and hoped it would go away.  Right now, the Assad forces are slowly losing their battle with their Sunni opponents.  Those opponents include ISIS and other forces led by al Qaeda as well as some more moderate factions.  What happens if ISIS or al Qaeda get control of some stockpiles of sarin?  Would we see that gas released in terror attacks on the New York subway or in an airport.  Once they have the nerve gas, neither ISIS nor al Qaeda would hold back.  What will Obama say if there is a terror attack using chemical weapons captured from Assad?  I know:  Obama will say, "I just learned about the terrorists getting nerve gas from television reports.  I'm mad as hell about it and will launch an investigation."

The problem, however, is not political.  None of Obama's lies will help those who will die when the terrorists start using chemical weapons.  We have no leader and we are all in danger as a result.
