It is really sad to read some of the columns from the pundits in today's news. People like E.J.Dionne and Maureen Dowd (OK, I use the term people loosely in her case) are out there proclaiming the craziness of the Republicans or how this was just a setback for the Democrats rather than a defeat. Others are announcing how the problem was poor communications from the White House (I guess they did not get the memo with the new, improved talking points from the DNC). It would be so refreshing if they could just say that the American people have chosen a new path and we need to accomodate ourselves to that path. Instead, we still get the sneering attacks on the people for choosing unwisely.
It may take a while for the new reality to sink in. Hopefully, the GOP will use its new position to advance a positive agenda of conservative programs. Let's meet the Democrats on the field of ideas and let the Democrats stick to the nastiness and pettiness.
