The Obama administration is out with its latest comments on the construction of "settlements" in Israel. State Department spokesman P J Crowley said that the United States is "deeply disappointed" that Israel has advanced plans to build 1,345 new homes in “sensitive areas” of east Jerusalem. Taking that out of the language of diplomacy and putting it into plain English, the State Department is upset that Israel would have the nerve to approve construction of 1,345 new homes for Jews in Jerusalem. Indeed, the State Department sees homes for Jews in Jerusalem as an obstacle to peace. The announcement sounds more like something that would come from the Nazi Propaganda Ministry than the US State Department -- keeping Jerusalem free of Jews will help the cause of peace.
Imagine for a moment the reaction of the world were the Israelis to announce that in the future no Muslims will be allowed to move into homes in areas of Jerusalem that were in Israeli territory prior to 1967. There would be screams of "apartheid", "racism" and the like in the press around the world. After all, it should be the right of an individual to live where he wants. Of course, that right does not apply to Jews according to the State Department.
