I was briefly watching "Hannity" this evening (I can only stand that show in small bursts), and it hit me how little has changed since before the election. The same people were on the show saying the same things as before the election. The arguments flew right by; they came more as talking points and less as reasoning. Earlier, I had seen a snippet of Countdown with Kieth Olbermann, a show I dislike even more than Hannity. KO was his usual vicious and disgusting self; he was ranting about imaginary evil coming from conservatives, much of it seemingly more fiction than real. Again, the election made no difference. I also watched a small bit of parker/Spitzer on CNN. For those of you who have never heard of Parker/Spitzer, it is a political discussion show on CNN that was apparently meant to capitalize on the celebrity of Eliott Spitzer, the former NY governor who left office after it was revealed that he had been frequenting hookers at state expense. On that show, the panel was not spouting talking points; they seemed to be struggling to just speak intelligent words. Most of what they said was so obtuse or confused that no sane person could watch -- a point reflected in the non-existant ratings for the show.
So all three news networks are doing the same shows now that they did before the election. It is very disappointing.
