Paul Krugman and the Hijacked Commission

In a strange twist, Paul Krugman is out today with a column lamenting the proposal from the co-chairman of the deficit reduction commission. According to Nobel Paul, the commission is making choices between hard right and center right options. At the same time, Rush Limbaugh has been railing against the proposal since it locks in spending and taxes at rates that are higher than anytime in US history besides the era of World War 2 and and the Obama spending explosion. Rush calls it a liberal dream come true. One of them has to be wrong, and--given the past track record -- I assume that Krugman is once again the better choice. On closer look, however, I think they are both correct if one examines their perspectives. To Krugman, the policies of the old Soviet Union represent the center. anything less than communism is right wing. So, in that universe, the commission is choosing right wing alternatives. In the real world, however, Krugman is once again spouting nonsense. I still wonder why the NY Times continues to print his craziness, but, then again, in a paper that publishes all of the other lefty jokers, I guess that Krugman is just another face of socialist realism.
