In the mail I got in response to the original post asking why the administration had the gulf oil spill commission if the report was going to be attacked and ignored, was this note from Steve Brill:
[You ask,] “My only question is this: If no one cares what the commission concluded, why spend the money for the commisssion in the first place?”
Answer: Investigations always appear responsible after a tragedy. The extra added attraction here was that the chance of a pro-BP report was probably considered to be very small. My question is whether the results of the report were known before the elections and efforts made to delay it? Probably. Whenever something unhelpful to the Administration comes out within a week of an election, a presumption of intentional delay is reasonable.
Thanks to Steve for his views.
