The Posturing Starts

President Obama was out telling the press today of the need for a short term deal to delay the start of the sequestration on March 1.  According to Obama, there needs to be a deal containing tax increases and greatly reduced budget cuts in place of the across the board cuts called for by sequestration.

What a joke!  People need to remember that Obama, himself, is the author of the sequestration plan.  Indeed, just three months ago Obama announced that he would veto any plan to avoid the sequestration cuts; there were to be no easy fixes according to Obama.  Now, the cuts are about to kick in so the spinner in chief is out telling us that America needs still more taxes.  Well here is a news flash:  this is not going to work.

John Boehner reacted to Obama's call for an agreement to put off the sequester by stating the obvious.  He pointed out that the House has already twice passed bills that would prevent the sequester by substituting a more rational group of spending cuts.  The Democrat controlled senate has not even bothered to consider these bills.  Boehner also pointed out that we just finished reaching agreement on taxation in a few weeks ago.  No new taxes are going to be added at this point.

I realize that there are many folks out there across America who will buy the nonsense being peddled by Obama; they will believe that the sequester is going into effect only because of Republican obstruction.  Still, the truth does have an advantage for the most part.  Obama's lies must be exposed.  The nice part here, however, is that unlike the recent past, a failure to agree at least leads to spending cuts.
