I have often written about the disasterous and idiotic policies followed by president Obama with regard to Syria. As of this writing, the number of dead in that country is approaching 80,000 with an additional 5000 refugees fleeing the fighting each day. In the entire year and a half that the Syrian problem has existed, Obama has done, in essence, nothing. Now, we hear from both the Washington Post and the New York Times that the reason for total inaction was that any move might upset his re-election campaign.
The WaPo confirmed in an editorial yesterday something that we already knew. More than six months ago, then CIA director Petreus and then Secretary of State Clinton came up with a plan for the USA to support the moderate elements of the rebels and to help bring the slaughter in that country to an end. The Clinton/Petreus plan was also supported by the Secretary of Defense and the Joints Chiefs of Staff. This was confirmed again at the hearings before congress this week. What this means is that the entire national security, intelligence and diplomatic branches of the government had lined up in favor of the program. The Times and the WaPo tell us, however, that the plan was vetoed by Obama since it conflicted with his re-election campaign in which he was telling the country that "the tide of war is receding."
It is worth noting that this story is not coming from a right wing blog, as the Democrats now call new media like the Daily Caller. Nor is the story the product of good investigative journalism at the much reviled Fox News. No, this story comes directly from Liberal-bias media central: The New York Times and the Washington Post. Without a doubt, the Obama campaign overturned the judgment of the military/intelligence and diplomatic sections of our government. Actions which were deemed to be in the best interests of the country were prevented because they might not be in the best interests of the Obama campaign. THIS IS AN ABOMINATION!!!
I wonder how many more Syrians must die before Obama will care at all about them. The truth is that Obama had a choice between 10,000 more dead people in Syria and 10,000 more votes in Ohio. Obama chose the votes and let the Syrians die.
