Ruth Marcus is a long time writer for the Washington Post. In other words, Ruth Marcus is a liberal and a member in good standing of the main stream media distortion team. Even so, her latest writing is still stunning in its hypocrisy. Marcus blasts the new senator from Texas, Ted Cruz for "smearing" Chuck Hagel. According to Marcus, the request by Cruz that Hagel tell the senate what foreign entities hired him or contributed to his foundation during the last four years is a smear. Marcus points out that Hagel even says that he does not know which foreign countries or organizations gave Hagel money, so it must be a smear. So, in Marcus' mind, asking for information is a smear.
All this leads me to ask just one question of Marcus: last fall, the head Democrat in the senate, Harry Reid, announced that Mitt Romney had not paid taxes for ten years. He did not just ask Romney for information; Reid announced that Romney was guilty of tax evasion. Further, Reid would not even tell the world the supposed source of this charge, just that it came from someone (unnamed) who had worked at Bain Capital. Of course, the charge by Reid was false. Indeed, it was also defamatory, but Reid made the charge on the senate floor so he was protected. My question then to Marcus is why did she not protest that obvious smear last fall?
Look, I know that few people read what Ruth Marcus has to say. I also know that even fewer people care about what Ruth Marcus has to say. Even so, Marcus ought not be allowed to get away with demeaning and slamming senator Cruz for asking a very fair question. Marcus is a hypocrite and folks ought to be told.
