An Interesting Note to Super Tuesday

The votes are still being finalized in some states.  Trump and Clinton had the best nights.  Right now, they look like they are nearly unstoppable for their respective nominations (unless Jim Comey steps in).  There will be a great many people writing about that, so I want to point out something else.  In every state in which there were both Democrat and Republican contests, there were many more voters on the GOP side with two exceptions:  Vermont and Massachusetts.  In Vermont, Democrats were voting for their home state favorite Bernie Sanders, so he drew more people to the polls.  Also, Vermont these days is about the most Democrat state in the country.  In Massachusetts, there are so many more registered Democrats than Republicans that it would have been truly amazing had the GOP gotten more voters.  Nevertheless, the GOP had a higher percentage of its voters turn out than was the case for the Democrats.

What this means is that in nearly every state that has voted so far, the GOP has outpolled the Dems.  This is a good sign for November.
