In recent years, anger has been to province of the left. It's a strange thing since we've had a more leftist president in Obama than any who held the office in modern times. Obama got in office and stopped enforcing the immigration laws, but the folks on the left remained angry about how illegal aliens are treated. Obama held the presidency and pulled out of Iraq and Afghanistan leaving only a desultory campaign against ISIS for appearances, but those on the left still scream angrily about Islamophobia when there's a terror attack by ISIS members in California leaving 14 dead Americans. Democrats suck up hundreds of millions of dollars in campaign contributions (and for the Clintons, personal contributions/payoffs) which dwarfs any amounts given to the GOP, but the left still froths at the mouth while discussing campaign finance "reform". Speakers on college campuses are regularly shouted down by angry leftists if the speaker is someone who might not agree with the prevailing leftist viewpoint on campus. It doesn't matter who is speaking or what they are saying; if they disagree with leftist dogma of the moment, the angry crowd shuts them up. And all these angry leftists constantly point to the evil of those who don't agree with them. Everyone who disagrees are racists or fascists or Nazis or ... well, you name it.
What's interesting today is that anger is becoming bipartisan. We had people on the fringes on the right who expressed anger in 2010 when the Tea Party was born, but the overwhelming majority of the Tea Party were anything by angry. As the Obama years passed, however, the level of anger among conservatives has risen. We watched Obama undermine the Constitution with illegal executive orders in which he announced that he was changing the law. Obama continually delayed portions of Obamacare despite the language of the law. He granted "exemptions" to friends from the provisions of Obamacare. He started repealing sections of the immigration law by refusing to enforce them. He entered into a ridiculous nuclear treaty with Iran without ever getting Senate confirmation as required. And through it all, Obama blamed others for every misfortune. He did nothing to promote economic growth leading to stagnant wages for millions, but it was someone else's fault according to Obama. He led the charge on big American industries like coal mining, and then he labeled the opposition as evil. He attacked people for following their religious beliefs rather than conforming to the left's view of social propriety. Even as the left remained angry, the rest of us started to get angry too as we have been attacked and bullied by strident leftists who refuse even to follow the law. The IRS, which is supposed to be non-political, was illegally used to attack conservatives and Christian organizations, and nothing happened.
So now we have angry conservatives and angry leftists. It's a very dangerous combination. Who knows where this all will lead.
